About Cortagen
Cortagen is a synthetic short peptide from the Khavinson (St. Petersburg) 'bioregulator' series, proposed to act on the cerebral cortex and nervous tissue. The underlying idea — that tissue-specific short peptides normalize protein synthesis in a target organ — is a research hypothesis, not an established mechanism. In organotypic culture Cortagen stimulated growth of rat cerebral-cortex explants, and it is among the peptides that altered aging-related chromatin markers in small studies of elderly subjects; there are no controlled clinical outcome trials, and the work comes largely from a single research group.
